Teens across Canada have taken to using cell phones with a vengeance, according to our online survey of Reactorz members who frequent our site. With the use of our research engine, we were able to identify the perceptions, motivations, uses, and ratings of wireless technology in kids aged 13 to 17 across Canada.
Some key findings included the high prominence of cell phone use among our sample and the higher rate of male ownership when compared to females. This age group is most interested in communication features in a wireless product as opposed to other features such as playing games. Overall ratings and interest in wireless products were very positive.
Not surprisingly, we found that teens want to use their wireless products to talk to their friends when and wherever they want. Teens of this age show a high level of interest in new and innovative technological features, and the voice-activated dialing really resonates with this age group. With almost half of this sample owning a wireless product, it is clear that this is a rapidly growing market, and manufacturers should take into account the needs and wishes of teens when they design products.
We know that many teens of this age are very active with instant messaging and emailing, and these forms of communication excite them. Our expertise tells us that a line of wireless products and services exclusively for kids, with enhanced communication features and cool capabilities, would be well-received.
Since this study is baseline research, we will be tracking these findings to distinguish patterns and trends.
