Reactorz is made up of an ongoing group of kids and young people from the age of 7 to 22. As well, parents of younger members (age 7 to 12) make up the Parents Panel.
Who is a Reactorz member? They are:
- from communities across Canada: cities, small towns, rural and suburban communities.
- a reflection of Canadian ethnic and cultural diversity.
- logging on from school computers, community and after school programs and at-home computers.
- accessing Reactorz through high-speed internet access and dial up modems.
- living in a variety of social and economic situations.
- high tech whizzes, internet newbies
and everything in between.
Why do they join the Reactorz community?
With each poll or survey submitted or message posted Reactorz members earn points which they can redeem for cash or prizes. Reactorz members know that their opinions are valued and that they are participating in the business of Reactorz.
But if Reactorz was only about the money most of the kids would not return again and again. They enjoy the opportunities to be heard about topics that matter to them, issues, lifestyle questions and as well design and content for initiatives targeted to them. They can compare their opinions with others, get research results once they are compiled and watch creative development that incorporates their opinions. Members learn to be critical without being cruel, controversial without being inflamatory. Members visit the site several times a week to stay current on topics and to see what their new friends have to say.
Offline research can recruit from the Reactorz community and use the infrastructure to find and compensate the members as well as analyze the data. Should a project require demographics not currently served sufficiently by the Reactorz community staff will recruit a supplementary sample for the research project.
Reactorz stays
on top of what is 'hot' within the youth community. A wireless
portal is in development so that Reactorz members can keep in
touch with their community from their cell phones and answer
polls and discussion topics between classes, on the bus or
just hanging out.

I just received my first check from Reactorz like yesterday! COOL! I haven't cashed it yet (because it was Friday and I was busy) but I'm sure things will work out. And to think I was once sceptical about this site... I thought that perhaps we wouldn't get any rewards like that. It's cool that we do though! I'm definitely going to tell others about it... I'm sure you'll get a couple more people of mine signing up!"
